Wed 10th March 2010
A visit to an art gallery is always enhanced by some knowledge of the artists and their background and a guided tour with an expert can offer a fresh look at art history, challenging many myths and misconceptions. In Writing about Art Andrew Graham-Dixon, one of the leading art critics and presenters of arts television, will explore the history of art and penetrate the many layers beneath a painting. Andrew has presented six landmark series on art for the BBC, including
the acclaimed A History of British Art, Renaissance
and Art of Eternity, as well as numerous individual documentaries
on art and artists. For more than twenty years he has published a weekly
column on art, and has written a number of highly commended books, on
subjects ranging from medieval painting and sculpture to the art of the
present. His most recent book is Michelangelo and the Sistine Chapel,
and he is currently working on a biography of Caravaggio. For further
information see www.andrewgrahamdixon.com.
This event is for members only. It will be followed by the AGM.
