Philip Ziegler
Biography: its Perils, Pitfalls and Pleasures
THIS EVENT WILL BE HELD AT BARNES METHODIST CHURCH HALL
Philip
Ziegler is one of Britain's most distinguished biographers and
historians. His works include biographies of Diana Cooper, Mountbatten,
Edward VIII, Harold Wilson, Osbert Sitwell and Edward Heath. He has also
written a study of the Black Death and a history of Baring’s Bank.
He is currently at work on a new biography of Laurence Olivier.
Philip took a degree in Jurisprudence at Oxford before joining the Diplomatic
Service in Vientiane, Paris, Pretoria and Bogota. In 1967 he resigned
from the Foreign Service to join the publishers, William Collins. After
becoming editor-in-chief he retired to become a full-time writer. Philip
is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and of the Royal Historical
Society.
