Come and celebrate National Poetry Day at Barnes Bookshop. The team behind the Barnes Bookfest are hosting a day of poetry reading and it’s free of charge!

11am  – Diane Frost, local poet and artist, reads from her exciting new collection developed during her artist’s residency at the Wetland Centre.

2pm – John Gorrie and Jane Haworth, retired directors and writers and accomplished book festival readers, read from Betjemen, Belloc and Yates.

3pm – Local author, David Pinner, reads from his latest poetry collection, and perhaps a chapter from The Wicker Woman, his sequel to Ritual which became the film The Wicker Man.

4pm – Actor Christian Anholt, currently appearing in ‘Mallory Towers’, will read from Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath.

COME TO OUR SUMMER PARTY

Our summer party is taking place on Tuesday 2nd June, at St Mary's Church, 6.30 - 8.00pm.  

Drinks and refreshments from 6.30 to 7.30pm. And then we are delighted that our patron, Gyles Brandreth, has agreed to entertain us from 7.30 to 8pm.
